Web survey doesn’t find many bears
Posted on Jul 16, 2017

A non-scientific, but revealing survey over the past fortnight, which asked the question, “Have you personally seen a bear near your cluster?” revealed that very few residents have actually SEEN a bear.

Eighty-four percent have not seen a bear. One person who answered no, did offer that he did see a bear near the Lodge last fall.  No one admitted to getting a picture of a bear.  One resident who did see a bear commented that the bear she saw was moving so fast she could not take the picture.  It seems her neighbors were chasing it trying to get a selfie.

Here are the final results:

Unfortunately, there are only 51 responses to the survey. We have 2580 units, this means that less than 2% responded. It is therefore important that if we were going to use this type of survey as a basis for any decision regarding bird feeders, that we have a more representative number of responses.
